Customer Rating: Summary: Solo Success can mean big money Comment: I've been freelancing as a technical writer for a few years and find my own state of mind was very much the same as what Mr. Perlstein says. Most of the tips given by the author are not a commonsense at all. There's a lot of things I simply didn't know. What I didn't like in this book was Mr. Perlstein's tendency to engage in endless, ethnically rich lyrical deviations about his grandma tales and his rather extended...family. But the 'Solo Success' is well-written, entertaining, and packed with practical tips and useful ideas. So I hope to return to the book now and then. This book is a good inspiration for everyone who plans to work solo... Customer Rating: Summary: Easy reading but not much in content Comment: This book may be a good inspiration but it doesn't help much in terms of business start-up procedures. The tips given by the author are too commonsense. Not recommended for people who already have some knowledge in business. The tips are already so understandable that I feel like I'm wasting my time reading the explaination. Not broad enough for people interested in the fields other than media &advertising. Customer Rating: Summary: Practical and Entertaining! Comment: I'm launching my own freelance marketing communications business within a few weeks, and this book answered almost all of my questions while addressing some issues I hadn't yet considered. (And I thought I had done my homework!) Perlstein makes the thought of starting one's own business much less intimidating. I'm so glad I read this book, and I would highly recommend it to anyone getting the itch to go out on their own. Customer Rating: Summary: On the Mark! Comment: A crazy librarian I know recommended this book and I was happily surpised when I found Solo Success invaluable. I carried the book around with me everywhere and all I had to do was look at the title to be inspired! It's true too- I may even pass the 100,000 mark this year hopefully with some extra hard work. I'm waiting for the sequal. Thanks David! Customer Rating: Summary: Save your Hi-lighter! Comment: . . . Simply mark whatever you DON'T want to read again! This book is packed with savvy advice from a been-there/done-that professional. Mr. Perlstein blends practical guidance, encouragement and insight with enough personal experience to create a business biography. He answers questions that the pre-freelancer wouldn't even think to ask. I may need to purchase another copy to replace my "yellowed" original!
